How Woo-Woo Are YOU?

I miss a lot of signs.

I have friends that will lift their eyes to the heavens and say "show me a sign!" and lo and behold, a rare blue butterfly will magically fly in and rest on their finger. ๐Ÿฆ‹

Some folks will casually mention that they get messages from deceased ancestors channeling clear guidance for their next steps. โœจ

People will see a shape in a cloud pattern and they've got their answer! Huh? ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ

None of that happens for me. ๐Ÿ‘Ž๐Ÿ‘Ž๐Ÿ‘Ž Like, ever.

I've suspected I might be oblivious, not sensitive, not tapped in or gifted, or just unaware.

And I'll tell you, I WISH I had some more guidance from the beyond.

Instead, I'm out here grinding it out. Fumbling through life with some wins and losses - just like the rest of us.

Earlier this week, I was walking through a wooded park nearby with someone.

She stopped and said "shhhhh." A look of delight came across her face.

"What is it?"

"A hawk! See it? It's right on that branch up there. And it's rare to see one this close."

"I don't see it. Oh, now I do - yes I do. How do you know it's a hawk? (I really don't know anything about the avian species - or most species)"

"Their wingspans are so wide! Oh wait! There's a second one!" she said.

"What does it mean?"

Seriously, people tell me ALL. THE. TIME what the symbolism is behind butterflies, pennies, hawks, eagles, snakes, and it's like a non-stick pan in my brain. It just won't retain any of it.

It's the same with any astrological info beyond a sun sign (rising moon? not a chance I'll know) or even Bible scripture. Does. Not. Compute.

She said "hawks are protectors. When you see one, it's a reminder that you are protected. It's exactly what I was about to say to you. I know you carry a lot of stress over the future."

Oooo, I love that!

And she gently reminded me to look around and notice my surroundings more. Take it all in and find the beauty.

Look up! Maybe the signs are there but I'm too busy in my head, looking down at my feet.

Seemed like pretty sound advice.

INVITATION: Next time you are outside, instead of tuning in to the noisy construction or the aggressive bikers, tap into the beauty and look for signs of beauty and peace all around you instead. Notice how your mood shifts.

I started thinking about our own levels of woo-woo - or propensity to rely on spiritual practices for guidance.

I even broke them down into 4 distinct belief categories and I wonder where you fall on this spectrum?

Today's podcast is aptly titled "How Woo-Woo Are You?" and I shared some pretty personal details about religion, religious people, God, and of course, how spirituality is morphing in our society right now.

Listen here...and this one, I DEFINITELY want to know where you stand:
