On to the next challenge

Ahh, it's been a long crawl back.

Before the pandemic, my 2020 resolutions were as follows:

  1. Learn a really hard choreographed dance routine

  2. Do the 29029 Everesting challenge

  3. Do a TED Talk.

Well, I bet you can guess how much I accomplished that year. womp womp 🙄🙄

I did become a Reb3l Groove® dance instructor after having no dance background at all so I checked off one thing ✅ .

I don't know about you, but I stopped so many good habits I had already baked into my lifestyle.

Maybe it was a latent form of depression.

I stopped getting up at 4:30am so my body could rest more.

I didn't make my bed as diligently. I started staying up late to binge watch TV and really relied on melatonin to help me sleep (I still struggle with this)

The endurance and superhuman strength challenges no longer had the same appeal.

I started to take a more "realistic" and relatable approach rather than a stretch-at-all-costs optimal mindset.

I didn't feel the need to push so hard. What was I trying to prove anyway?

I also was in a job that felt super draining - almost like I was contracting into a smaller form of myself.

The podcast and the dancing were the two things that felt expansive and brought me joy.

I was so grateful for both.

After doing the 12 hour walk in silence with no phone, music, podcasts solo 2 weeks ago, I was fine for the first 6 or 7 hours - cheery, almost. And after that, I was like -

WTF was I thinking? This is dumb!

But was it?

After some further reflection after the 12 hour walk, I started to get my spark back from over 2 years ago.

The walk really way more of a mental mindset game than a physical one.

And if I could do it, how else could I challenge my mind to do more?

What else is possible?

So, I'm going to do another 12 hour walk on 9/10 of this year. Colin O'Brady, the founder, has issued a global challenge to walk alone - together on that day.

But I want to do more.

Perhaps a silent weekend retreat? 29029 finally? (I can't wait to earn income again so I can sign up for this!) What else???
